My name is Abd-Manaaf Bakere and I am currently second year Physician Assistant student at York College, CUNY.
With a diverse and enriching background, I bring a unique perspective to the field of healthcare. Originally from Togo, West Africa, I embarked on my academic journey in the United States in 2013, determined to make a meaningful impact in the healthcare sector. Currently pursuing a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at York College, I have consistently excelled in my academic pursuits, earning a spot on the Dean’s list and showcasing my dedication to excellence. My educational foundation includes an Associate’s degree in Science – Biology from Bronx Community College, where I graduated with high honors and earned a place on the President’s list. I continued my academic journey with a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from Hunter College, consistently earning a place on the Dean’s list.
In addition to my academic achievements, I am a recipient of the NHSC Scholarship Program Award from HRSA Government Agency at York College, further highlighting my commitment to both academic and service excellence. Complementing my academic journey, I have immersed myself in clinical volunteering at esteemed institutions such as Essen Medical Associates, New York-Presbyterian Hospital, University Medical Services, and Montefiore Hospital – Emergency Department. These experiences have not only honed my skills in direct patient care and medical support but have also instilled in me a deep sense of compassion and understanding. Beyond the healthcare realm, my commitment to education is evident through my roles as a Mathematics Tutor at Bronx Community College and an HSE: Mathematics and Science Instructor at Mosholu Montefiore Community Center. With certifications in ACLS, BLS, and specialized roles such as EKG and Phlebotomy Technician, my diverse background positions me as a versatile and dedicated professional ready to contribute meaningfully to the healthcare landscape.
